The UCSB Accelerated English Language Program (AELP), offered in partnership with KSE Global Education, provides high school students a transformative, immersive English-learning experience that rapidly builds confidence, fluency, and academic communication skills.
What is the UCSB Accelerated English Language Program?
The UCSB Accelerated English Language Program is a rigorous six-week, full-time, credit-bearing intensive English program designed for students intending to join the UCSB Connect Program, offered by KSE Global in collaboration with UCSB Professional and Continuing Education. UCSB Accelerated English Language Program focuses on significantly enhancing all critical English proficiency areas, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Successful completion of the program, demonstrated by passing the UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education English Exit Test, allows students to fulfill the English proficiency requirement for the subsequent UCSB Connect Program.

English Proficiency Enhancement
AELP is designed to strengthen international students' English proficiency in preparation for a rigorous U.S. higher education environment. Over the course of the six-week program, students engage in dynamic classroom experiences that support language development through a variety of instructional approaches, including skills-based activities, interactive lectures, and project-based learning exercises. By the end of the program, students leave with stronger English language skills and greater confidence, better preparing them for future academic pursuits.

UCSB Connect
Students who successfully complete AELP and pass the UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education English Exit Test will fulfill the English proficiency requirement for the UCSB Connect Program, enabling a seamless transition into the next stage of their academic journey. Having already spent time studying on campus, students will also enter the Connect Program with valuable knowledge of the UCSB campus, faculty, and staff—providing a strong foundation for continued success in their studies.

Students receive the full campus experience, housed in an on-campus residence hall with its own dining commons, a 25-meter swimming pool, basketball courts, and sand volleyball courts. Students also have access to campus academic facilities, research resources, and the University Recreation Center, which features myriad athletic facilities and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
